Journey
Vishal Dadlani is a singer, songwriter, music composer, and occasional actor. He occupies two distinct but complementary spaces in music as the frontman and vocalist of electronic rock band Pentagram, and as one half of Vishal–Shekhar, a duo renowned for writing, performing, and producing music across a wide range of styles. His work touches Bollywood, pop, hip hop, rock, trance, Sufi, and Western classical, making him one of the more genre-fluid figures in contemporary music.
Dadlani's career took an early defining turn when he and collaborator Shekhar Ravjiani received the Filmfare RD Burman Award for New Music Talent in 2003 for their contributions to Jhankaar Beats, recognition that helped establish Vishal–Shekhar as a serious creative force. In 2007, Dadlani added the Jack Daniel's Vocalist of the Year award to his record.
His catalog reflects consistent output across labels including Saregama India Ltd and Vishal Bhardwaj Music Label LLP, with releases such as "Dil Phisal Gaya" from the film Ruslaan, "Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri," "Hahacar Title Song," "Good Morning," and "Ek Nazar Mein Bhi" representing his active years from 2019 through 2025. He has worked alongside collaborators, including Vishal Bhardwaj, Imogen Heap, Akon, and The Vamps, each partnership pointing to a creative range that moves easily between Indian film music and international pop and rock.
Outside the recording studio, Dadlani's presence as an occasional actor adds another dimension to a career that resists easy categorization. His continued releases under multiple label partnerships and his sustained involvement with both Pentagram and Vishal–Shekhar signal an artist who remains actively engaged across several fronts of the music industry, committed to performance and production in equal measure.
