Vishal Dadlani is a singer, songwriter, music composer, and occasional actor. He occupies two distinct but complementary spaces in music as the frontman and vocalist of electronic rock band Pentagram, and as one half of Vishal–Shekhar, a duo renowned for writing, performing, and producing music across a wide range of styles. His work touches Bollywood, pop, hip hop, rock, trance, Sufi, and Western classical, making him one of the more genre-fluid figures in contemporary music. Dadlani's career took an early defining turn when he and collaborator Shekhar Ravjiani received the Filmfare RD Burman Award for New Music Talent in 2003 for their contributions to Jhankaar Beats, recognition that helped establish Vishal–Shekhar as a serious creative force. In 2007, Dadlani added the Jack Daniel's Vocalist of the Year award to his record.
